Summertime is a great time to get out and shake up your workout routine. The long days are ideal for getting in an extra bike ride and enjoying the great outdoors. If you are just starting up an exercise routine or even if you have been exercising regularly, we have some summer biking tips for you.

Ride Outside

After the long winter months, it is time to get up and go outside. Training in a gym can be boring. Now is the time for you to hit the trails and get moving. If you are just starting out, start off slow. Find trails near by that you can hit after work or in the mornings. Finding new trails and paths is a fun and motivating way to get yourself on a bike. You can also train with a friend. Having a friend tag along is a great motivational tool to use, even if the weather suddenly looks sketchy and you have to move the workout indoors.

Acclimate Yourself

Summer is hot, protect yourself from heat exhaustion by starting off slow and preparing for the heat. If you do not acclimate correctly you also increase your chances of injury. Try riding early in the morning or late in the day when the weather is a little cooler. Also be sure you are wearing the right clothing to keep you cool. Lightweight, light colored clothing is best for keeping you cool. Use breathable fabrics that will wick sweat away from your body.
