If you’re an athlete, you are well aware that, aside from training hard, you should also eat well in order to get the results you want. For example, you need to consume pre and post workout snacks to give your body the energy it needs, and help it recuperate after a demanding routine.

Of course, it all depends on the type of physical activity you do, but if you want a general idea of which way to go to feed your body right, this post by Athletic Republic in Midland will help guide you.

Foods for Before and After Training

Pre-Workout

You need energy to get going! This is why you should include plenty of fiber and protein in your pre-workout snack. Just make sure to eat it an hour to half an hour before exercising.

Protein-shake

Your favorite fruit, almond milk, and some protein powder mixed together, are sure to give your body the energy boost it needs to reach its physical potential.

Yogurt, Fruits and Nuts

This easy, on-the-go snack made up of greek yogurt, nuts or seeds (almonds, walnuts, flax seeds, etc.) and a handful of dried fruits, provides the nutrients you require.

Toast and Protein Spreads

If you love peanut butter, this is for you! Spread some peanut butter on a slice of whole grain toast (and even put bananas on top) for an energy-filled meal.

Post-Workout

Your muscles need to rebuild after you made them work so hard, which is why you need lots of proteins in your post-workout meal. Just make sure your body settles down before eating.

Salmon and Veggies

Salmon is one of the best sources for omega-3 fatty acids. Enjoy it after a workout with a few green veggies (broccoli, for example) to help build up your muscles.

Tuna Sandwich

Sandwiches can be the perfect balanced meal. Prepare a deliciously healthy one with brown bread, protein-filled tuna and a bunch of veggies (tomato, avocado, bell pepper, etc.)

Protein Pancakes

These protein pancakes are perfect for your sweet tooth! Use coconut flour, almond milk, protein powder, and eggs to give them a healthier, but still delicious, spin.
